Mars Colonization
Artist Amy Li-Chuan Chang
Mars colonization has been a topic of discussion for many years. While it may seem like a distant dream, in reality, scientists have been actively working toward making this goal a reality. This is not just a vision for the future, but a plan that is gradually taking shape. It is this evolving vision that inspired my exhibition.
In recent years, my work has explored themes related to industry and technology, ranging from industrial organs, the new industrial revolution, and artificial intelligence, to the Mars colonization plans of 2024. These topics form a continuous narrative, each one building on the last.
Industrial Organs tells the story of human organs being mass-produced and repurposed as machines, setting the stage for the new industrial revolution, where strange new machines replace traditional industrial systems. This progression continues with the rise of artificial intelligence and hybrid organisms. The Mars colonization project envisions using these hybrid beings to form an advanced team tasked with exploring the potential for human survival on Mars.
In this exhibition, the pioneers of this mission come from the land, sea, and sky, including lower life forms, symbolizing a test of life’s adaptability. After all, life on Earth began with microorganisms. These hybrid organisms serve as the vanguard of Mars colonization, preparing the way for future human migration.
This team is equipped with everything needed for the journey: aircraft, communication devices, power generators, and biological entities. The kaleidoscope offers a glimpse of a new, beautiful world, while the horn signals the start of a great adventure.
This exhibition invites you to step into a future that is on the cusp of becoming reality.

The Exhibition
